It was the final class for the group. We introduced the Storymakers League flag and we had a videoshoot session, asking the young authors to describe how they wanted their book launch to be like. Some interesting suggestions were brought up. We took the video and photo shoot to the lake of the library as we bade farewell to each other before we meet again at the book launch.
Heidi Shamsuddin is the author and creator of "The Door Under the Stairs" series published by Oyez Books. Her short stories for adults have been published by Fixi Novo and Terrer Books. Her first picture book, "Chickaboo the Runaway Ostrich" was published in 2017 and in 2018, her middle grade chapter book, "Kayu of Manis Valley" was published by MPH Publishing. Recently, her "Readers" were published by Oxford University Press.
In 2012, Heidi won the regional prize for the Eye Level Children’s Literature Award, and in 2017 her screenplay won the Intellectual Property Creators’ Challenge – the IPCC Award. "Batik Girl", a short animated film has gone on to win numerous awards on the international film festival circuit.
Her most recent book is based on "Hikayat Raja Babi" which she adapted as an illustrated children’s book, published by Matahari. Heidi has just completed a collection of Nusantara Fairy Tales and is now working on another novel.
In a former life, Heidi was a maritime lawyer working in London.
